DESCRIPTION:Join us for this special Alumni All Access-Sponsored Emeritus Society Event! \n\n\n\nA presentation and conversation about the African origins of UNCG’s Minerva\, the Roman goddess of wisdom\, known to the Egyptians as ‘Neith’ and the Greeks as ‘Athena.’ Dr. Ali presents the archeological and historical evidence that points to the origins and evolution of this creator deity starting at Sais in the Nile delta as part of a richly connected ancient Mediterranean world. \n\n\n\nDr. Omar H. Ali is a historian and ethnographer of Africa and the global African Diaspora. He received his Ph.D. in History from Columbia University and is the author of over half a dozen books. DESCRIPTION:The curator of the Women Veterans Historical Project (WVHP) invites you to a “show and tell” of some of her favorite items in the collection. The WVHP is the preeminent research archives of the history of women who have served since World War I in the U.S. military and the American Red Cross. With holdings from over 750 women veterans\, the WVHP preserves and makes accessible oral histories\, uniforms\, photographs\, posters\, recruiting materials\, newsletters\, scrapbooks\, artifacts\, diaries and more!  \n\n\n\nBeth Ann Koelsch has been the curator of the WVHP since 2008. She previously worked as a project archivist at the Sallie Bingham Center for Women’s History and Culture at Duke University\, Durham\, NC. She earned her Master’s in Library Science (MSLS) degree from the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007 and her undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1990.  \n\n\n\nCoffee and snacks will be available before and after the presentation in the entryway. Please keep an eye on the calendar for future opportunities to connect with alumni in the community.  \n\n\n\nJoin the Office of Alumni Engagement for an evening at a Greensboro Grasshoppers game! UNCG has reserved the Cone Health Terrace on June 5th for a UNCG Alumni Social.  \n\n\n\nTickets are $15 per person (for a $45 value!) and will include entry to the game and a catered ballpark meal (hamburgers & hot dogs with sides). We will also have a domestic draft keg reserved for UNCG alumni attendees. Alumni are welcome to bring friends and family; guests must also purchase a ticket. Tickets are nonrefundable.  \n\n\n\nAlready purchased your tickets? All tickets have been emailed out directly from the Grasshoppers. SUMMARY:Red Carpet Reception Spring 2025
DESCRIPTION:What IS Red Carpet Reception? We’re celebrating YOU! Join us for a memorable event featuring several photo opportunities\, including the iconic red carpet photo and a magazine-style photobooth. Enjoy delicious food\, snacks\, celebratory toasts\, and the opportunity to receive your philanthropy cord! \n\n\n\nAll graduating students and their loved ones are welcome! We are partnering with the Office of Intercultural Engagement\, Career and Professional Development\, and others to bring our student groups the graduation festivities they know and love. Visit the Alumni Engagement and Office of Intercultural Engagement tents to receive a (new this year!) alumni pin! \n\n\n\nThere is no dress code\, but feel free to dress up if you’re feeling fancy! Commencement regalia (cap\, gown\, etc) is also encouraged. You’ll have plenty of photo opportunities in and around the Alumni House. \n\n\n\nRed Carpet Reception is a drop-in event. We’d love for you to join us for the full two hours\, but feel free to come and go as you please. The official toasts will take place at 4:30pm\, 5:00pm\, and 5:30pm. \n\n\n\nSnacks will be provided! Small bites and treats will be set up inside and outside of the Alumni House. \n\n\n\nBe sure to participate in a toast! For those wanting to toast with champagne\, you must be at least 21 years of age. Bring a valid government-issued ID (no student ID cards) to be served champagne. A sparkling non-alcoholic beverage will also be available. \n\n\n\nAll surfaces lots and decks are free and open to graduates and their families. \n\n\n\nThere’s a lot to see and do\, so check out the event map below so you don’t miss anything! This includes the designated check-in area\, photo opportunities\, and other points of interest.  \n\n\nWe are no longer accepting online registrations for this event. Walk-up registration will be available at the Alumni House for those planning to attend.
